Board Staff
The Iowa Board of Physician Assistants is staffed by both a Board Executive and a Secretary in the Bureau of Professional Licensure, Iowa Department of Public Health. Legal services are provided by the Iowa Attorney General's Office.

Board Members
The Board is made up of five members licensed to practice as a physician assistant, at least two of whom practice in counties with a population of less than fifty thousand, one member licensed to practice medicine and surgery who supervises a physician assistant, one member licensed to practice osteopathic medicine and surgery who supervises a physician assistant, and two members who are not licensed to practice either medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery or licensed as a physician assistant and who shall represent the general public.
Board Members:
- serve three-year terms (unless filling an unexpired term),
- appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate,
- serve no more than nine years (three full terms).
