Lead Poisoning Prevention Program: 1-800-972-2026

The Iowa Department of Public Health's Lead Poisoning Prevention program provides information on childhood lead poisoning prevention in addition to adult blood lead epidemiology and surveillance. Numerous program resources pertaining to the lead program are included.

The Iowa Department of Public Health's Bureau of Family Health promotes the health of Iowa families by providing resources for health care services through public and private collaborative efforts. We advocate for services that are family-centered, community-based, and culturally sensitive. Through these efforts, community entities are empowered to develop local health care systems that meet present and future health needs.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides information on EPSDT benefits and state agency responsibilities and required activities.

Early ACCESS: 1-888-IAKIDS1

Early ACCESS is Iowa's IDEA Part C program for infants or toddlers under the age of three who:

• have a condition or disability that is known to have a high probability of developmental delay or
• are already experiencing a 25 percent delay in one or more areas of growth development

Early ACCESS is a partnership between families and providers from the Iowa Department of Education, Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa Department of Human Services and Child Health Specialty Clinics. Families and staff work together in identifying, coordinating and providing needed services and resources.

EPSDT Knowledge Path - Maternal and Child Health Library

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Library, located at the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health at Georgetown University, is a virtual guide to MCH information. It offers a combination of MCH information compiled by library staff and pathways to the best MCH information available from other websites, organizations, and libraries. Knowledge paths on MCH related topics contain selections of recent, high quality resources and tools for staying abreast of new developments. Components of a knowledge path include links to websites, electronic publications, databases, discussion groups, and citations from journal articles and other print resources.

The EPSDT Knowledge Path includes guidelines for the frequency, timing, and content of health-promotion and disease-prevention services for infants, children, and adolescents. Separate sections present resources for professionals (health professionals, program administrators, policymakers, and researchers) and for families. Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a statewide nutrition program that serves children under the age of 5 and pregnant and postpartum women. WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition education and referrals to other health care agencies.
