Neuromuscular and Related Disorders Clinic

Our program supports individuals with neuromuscular and related disorders and their families. These may include:

  • Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • Becker muscular dystrophy
  • Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy
  • Congenital muscular dystrophy
  • Spinal muscular atrophy
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Charcot-marie-tooth
  • Fredreich’s ataxia

According to our most recent report, in conjunction with practitioners and other allied health staff like yourself, we served 738 people in six different Iowa communities in 2013. Additionally, we are passionate about providing genetics education around the state to promote healthy communities and prevent disease.

What services are provided?

Your patient may receive a number of services at our partner clinics, including:

  • Advice for daily living with muscle and brain disorders
  • Educational materials
  • Family and patient support services
  • Research opportunities
  • Physical therapy evaluation and recommendations

It is important that providers at all treatment sites are communicating to determine the best possible treatment for the patient.

How do I make a referral?

Referrals are accepted from physicians, nurses, social workers, teachers, family members and others. To arrange an appointment for neuromuscular services or inquire about educational presentations, call 319-353-6200.
