Regional Genetics Consultations Clinics
Since 1976, the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital has offered Genetics Outreach Clinics across Iowa that provide comprehensive, family-centered, genetic health care to individuals and families. When your patient is in need of genetic counseling, this is a resource from which they may benefit.
Services provided include:
- Diagnostic evaluations
- Confirmatory testing
- Medical management
- Provision of non-directive counseling to individuals and families
- Case management
- Individual and family support
- Education
- Consultation
- Referral
What is the cost for the service?
Some insurance companies reimburse for genetic consultation. Third party payers will be billed if a family has coverage. Laboratory procedures, if needed will be billed separately.
How do I make a referral?
Referrals will be accepted from physicians, nurses, social workers, clergy, teachers, families and other.
