The Iowa Problem Gambling Services (IPGS) funds research activities to assist in evaluating current programming, as well as identify state trends to assist in meeting the needs of Iowans impacted by problem gambling.
Gambling Attitudes and Behaviors
Since 2011 the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has funded Surveys of Public Attitudes and Behaviors Toward Gambling conducted by the Center for Social and Behavioral Research (CSBR) at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). The primary purpose of these surveys is to collect data from adult Iowans who are 18 and older to assess:
- Prevalence of problem gambling;
- Attitudes toward gambling and publicly-funded gambling treatment services; and
- Types and frequency of gambling activities.

Iowa Gambling Treatment Outcomes (IGTO) Reports
The purpose of the Iowa Gambling Treatment Outcomes Monitoring System is to assess the extent to which problem gambling treatment services provided via the Office of Problem Gambling Treatment and Prevention are associated with positive outcomes for patients who received problem gambling treatment from the IDPH funded problem gambling treatment programs.
