Prevention Priorities
Background
Through review of data, the Bureau of Substance Abuse has identified priority areas for prevention services. Each priority is listed and described below. These prevention priorities are promoted through the various grant opportunities the bureau administers. The bureau focuses implementation of effective prevention strategies and programs within each grant in order to best address priority areas.
Prevention services are driven by the Strategic Prevention Framework planning model and provided through six prevention strategies, both created by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
